Privacy Policy
What XViewer collects when you use the site, how cookies and ads work here, which services help run XViewer, and the choices you have.
The short version
- You don't need an account to use XViewer, and we never ask for your X password.
- We process the links and handles you enter so we can show you the content you asked for.
- We use cookies for ads, and for analytics only if you agree.
- We don't sell your personal information.

Information we collect
What you type in. When you paste a post link, enter an @handle or start a download, we receive that input so we can fetch the public content you asked for.
Technical data. Like almost every website, our servers receive basic request data: IP address, browser and device type, the page you requested, the referring page, and the time of the request. We use it to run the site, keep it secure, prevent abuse and fix problems.
What we don't collect. We don't ask for your name, email or phone number to use the tools, and there are no user accounts. If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you write.
Content from X
XViewer only shows content that is already public on X. Post data and counts are cached for a short time, from a couple of minutes for posts to about an hour for profiles, so we don't fetch the same thing for every visitor.
We don't keep a library of the videos, GIFs, audio or photos you download. Files are passed through to your device when you download them. Our media processing provider may hold temporary copies briefly when a file needs converting, for example when making an MP3.
When you view a post, photos and videos load in your browser directly from X's media servers (pbs.twimg.com and video.twimg.com), so X can see your IP address the same way it would for a tweet embedded on any other site.
Services that help run XViewer
We rely on a few outside providers. Each receives only what it needs to do its job:
- Cloudflare, for hosting and delivering the site, which processes request data like IP addresses.
- X's public embed service, which provides post data for the Twitter viewer.
- A third-party X data provider, which provides public profile details for the profile viewer. It receives the handle you search.
- A media processing provider, which fetches and converts files for the download tools. It receives the post link you submit.
- Google Analytics, which measures how the site is used, only if you allow analytics.
- Google AdSense, which serves ads, described below.
Cookies and similar technologies
We use a small number of cookies and browser storage:
- Necessary: remembering your cookie choice and your light or dark theme. These are stored in your own browser.
- Analytics: Google Analytics cookies, set only after you choose to allow analytics in the cookie banner.
- Advertising: cookies set by Google and other ad partners, explained in the next section.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The tools will still work, though ads may be less relevant.
Advertising and Google AdSense
We use Google AdSense to show ads. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your previous visits to this website or other websites.
Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings at https://adssettings.google.com. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising at https://www.aboutads.info/choices or, in Europe, https://www.youronlinechoices.eu

Why we process data and how long we keep it
We process data to provide the tools you use, to keep the site secure and working, to understand usage when you allow analytics, and to show ads. Where the GDPR applies, our legal bases are our legitimate interest in running a secure, working service, and your consent for analytics and personalized ads.
We keep server and security logs only as long as needed for those purposes, and cached content for the short periods described above. Data held by Google and other providers is governed by their own retention policies.
Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal data we hold about you, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent at any time.
Residents of the EEA, UK and Switzerland can also lodge a complaint with their local data protection authority.
California residents: we don't sell personal information and don't share it for cross-context behavioral advertising beyond the ad cookies described above, which you can control through the opt-out links in this policy. You have the right to know, delete and correct personal information, and we won't treat you differently for using these rights.
To make a request, email contact@xviewer.to with "Privacy request" in the subject. Because there are no accounts, we may ask for details that help us find the data you're asking about, such as the approximate time you used the site.
Children
XViewer is not directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, email us and we'll delete it.
Security and international transfers
We use reasonable measures to protect the data we handle, including encrypted connections (HTTPS). No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure.
XViewer is run from the United States, and our providers may process data in other countries. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for those transfers.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page. If the changes are significant, we'll make that clear on the site. Questions? Email contact@xviewer.to
