Save images from Twitter in a few taps

Long-pressing a photo on X works sometimes, but on a computer you often get a cropped preview, and posts with several photos mean saving each one by hand. Here you paste the link once and get every image in the post, ready to save.

You get the images at the size X serves them. If the original upload was small, the download will be too.

How to download Twitter images

It's the same three steps for one photo or four.
1

Copy the tweet link

Tap the share icon under the post and pick Copy link, or copy the address bar on a computer.
2

Paste and tap Download

Tap Paste in the box above (or press Ctrl+V / Cmd+V), then Download. The photos from the post show up below.
3

Save one or all

Tap Download under any photo to save just that one, or tap Download ZIP to get every image from the post in a single file.

Handy for

  • Posts with several photos: X lets people attach up to four images. You see all of them at once instead of opening each one.
  • One-file downloads: Download ZIP bundles the post's photos together, so they don't scatter across your Downloads folder.
  • Photos from many tweets: Saving images from several posts? Paste up to five links at once in the bulk downloader.

Opening the ZIP on your phone

On iPhone, ZIP files go to the Files app. Tap the ZIP once and iOS unpacks it into a folder next to it. Open a photo, tap Share, then Save Image to put it in Photos. If you only need one or two pictures, it's quicker to tap Download under each one instead.

On Android, open the Files app, tap the ZIP in Downloads and choose Extract. The photos then show up in your gallery.

If the post also has a video

Posts that mix photos and video still work here, but for the video itself, with a choice of quality, the Twitter video downloader is the better fit.

When no photos show up

Check that the link goes to the post itself, not to a profile or a reply above it. Photos from protected accounts or deleted posts can't be downloaded, and neither can posts X only shows to logged-in users. Profile pictures and header images aren't part of a post, so they won't appear here.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are the photos full size?

You get the images at the size X serves them, which is usually much bigger than what you see in the timeline. X does resize very large uploads, so a photo can be smaller than the file the person originally posted.

Can I save someone's profile picture?

Not with this tool. It only reads photos attached to a post. Our Twitter profile viewer shows an account's profile picture along with their bio.

The ZIP won't download. What's wrong?

A ZIP can hold up to 20 images and 50 MB. One post never hits that, but very large images occasionally can. Download the photos one at a time instead.

Can I use the photos I download?

For yourself, sure. Posting them elsewhere or using them in your own work is different: the photo belongs to whoever took it, so ask first and give credit.
